The International Living Future Institute™ announced last night the recipients of its 2013 Living Building Challenge™ Heroes Award. The new Heroes were recognized at the Institute’s Big Bang Dinner, part of its annual Living Future unConference.
Oregon BEST and the International Living Future Institute today announced the four finalists in their Red List Design Challenge, which carries $15,000 in cash prizes and was launched to foster development of non-toxic building products and launch new Oregon companies.
The Big green Greenhouse Design Competition attracted submissions from around the world for a project to be located in Snohomish County, Washington. SnoLeaf Branch Collaborative of Cascadia Green Building Council announced the top three winning designs at The International Living Future unConference in Seattle May 15th.

After a day of summits, tours, workshops and other should activities, we're nearing the official kick-off to the Living Future 2013 unConference: the Opening Keynote. After an opening performance by musician Andrew Culver, tonight's keynote presentation will be delivered by geneticist, television personality, enviornmentalist and living legend, Dr. David Suzuki. Note: Tickets to the opening night keynote are open to the public and on sale now.
Tom Douglas, a chef, restaurateur, author, 2-time winner of the James Beard Award (the most prestigious in the culinary world) and, from what I could tell, an all around good guy took some time out of his busy schedule to speak with a group of Living Future unConference attendees during a tour of his restaurants today.
Conferences and unConferences tend to engender a sense of euphoria. We enjoy the change of scene, we marvel at the ideas and innovations of our peers and heroes, and we find kindred spirits. The days tend to whirl by and before we know it, we're back at our desks. As days turn to weeks, the inspiration inevitabely begin to fade. Unless of course, the unConference happens to be Living Future.
