2018 is shaping up to an awesome opportunity to empower Eugene to become an even greener and more humane place to live. Please join us to hear about two exciting and growing efforts to increase the number of environmentally-friendly housing options in Eugene. These efforts are so promising they’ve already won the backing of the University of Oregon, AARP Oregon, and AIA SWO, to name a few supporters.
Representatives from Better Housing Together and Walkable Eugene Citizens Advisory Network (WE CAN) will present on their two initiatives:
- Better Housing Together –
- “Better Housing Together is a growing coalition of community leaders who want to see the southern Willamette Valley emerge from this crisis as the innovative, inclusive, livable community we all want to enjoy. We advocate for sustainable, walkable neighborhoods and champion well-designed infill redevelopment that reduces our impact on the climate and keeps our community welcoming and economically thriving.”
- Land use code changes that will make it easier to build more housing options:
“Cottages, including both backyard cottages (secondary dwelling units) and clusters of cottages, are one form of housing that both provides smaller and more cost effective options, while also being ideal for small infill projects in walkable areas”
The Cascadia Green Building Council is very excited about these two initiatives and can’t wait to hear more about them. Hope to see you there!
