Megan Ritchie Saffitz joined the International Living Future Institute as Certification Director in March 2017. Before that, she worked for the U.S. Green Building Council, where she oversaw all customer service for both USGBC and GBCI as the former Director of LEED Support and Technical Customer Service there. Megan was the founding manager of the LEED Coach program and grew theTechnical Customer Service Team from 3-people back in 2010 to nearly a 30-person team that supported more than 700 project teams each week in 2017, across LEED, WELL, SITES, Parksmart, EDGE, and Zero Waste rating systems. Under her leadership, her team won more than 10 awards, including three “Customer Service Team of the Year” awards in in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Before joining USGBC, Megan worked in the private sector as a sustainable development Consultant with Paladino & Company. There she contributed to more than 40 projects, and reviewed nearly 200 LEED Applications as a contracted LEED Reviewer for GBCI. She was also a Founding Board Member of her local Congress for New Urbanism chapter, sat on the Steering Committee for the Seattle Branch of Cascadia Green Building Council, and was Co-Chair of the Seattle LEED User Group for several years. She developed the curriculum for the first green real estate program in the country at North Seattle College, regularly lectures there on both commercial and residential real estate, and sits on their Real Estate Technical Advisory Committee.
She has a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science from Scripps College, two Masters from University of Pennsylvania (Landscape Architecture and City & Regional Planning), and an MBA from the University of Washington. She is a 4th generation Seattlite, built her own 460 sq ft LEED-Platinum house, and is a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
