What’s included on a label
The Just label consists of 6 categories and 21 indicators. Each label is personalized for every organization and renewed every two years. Organizations submit policies, data, and supporting documentation for each indicator, with each indicator offering four potential levels of performance.
What do the levels mean?
Every Indicator will feature four boxes. When filled in blue, these boxes signify the organization’s performance level for that particular Indicator. To understand what requirements an organization had to meet within each indicator, please review the Just 3.0 Program Manual.
Here is a breakdown of what each level encompasses:
- Level 1 always begins with organizations developing a policy. This focus on policy first is designed to prioritize codifying an organization’s commitments to equity, and it also makes participation in Just possible for all organizations.
- Levels 2-4 will require policy, data and supporting documentation. These levels represent actions towards embodying equity and justice within each respective Indicator.
- Level 4 represents the highest level of performance within the Just program. This level indicates that an organization has been able to demonstrate significant action toward “what good looks like” based on our current understanding of justice and equity.
Note: If an organization is not able to develop and enact a policy to meet an Indicator’s Level 1 requirement at the time of submission, the label will display that Indicator with blank boxes, indicating a Level 0 performance.
Just Program manual
The Just Program Manual offers a comprehensive overview of the program and describes the application process. Organizations are encouraged to review the manual prior to registering for the program, and begin documenting or developing policies that address indicator metrics outlined in the standard. Process and Fees
In order to register for the Just program, at least one employee within your organization needs to join as a Living Future Member. Membership includes access to ILFI project registrations, conference discounts, and the Living Future Network community, among other benefits.
Once an employee has joined ILFI, your organization will be able to register for Just through the Membership Dashboard, begin uploading policies and data for each of the indicators, and submit your Just label application. The program fee, which is due at the time of registration, is based on the number of full-time employees. It follows the formula: Base Fee + (Employee Fee × Number of Employees), which can be seen in the chart below.
