Natalie Van Dreal
Manager, Certification
Natalie is the Certification Manager at the Living Future. She manages the certification process for Living Future’s building-scale programs, including The Living Building Challenge, Zero Carbon, and Zero Energy. She supports the development of certification platforms and processes, addressing questions from project teams and third-party auditors throughout the review process.
Natalie received a Master of Design in Sustainable Design from Boston Architectural College (BAC), and a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology prior to that. Her award-winning thesis project at BAC proposed biophilic & regenerative design solutions to enhance the mental and physical wellbeing of students, while reducing violence in existing public schools. She has experience as a sustainability consultant for building product manufacturers, and as a key strategist and impact manager for the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS). She also brings the unique perspective of someone who has worked in the trades herself. Working in natural building was the catalyst for her career trajectory and bio-based materials continue to inspire her work.
When she’s not working, Natalie can be found force-cuddling her dog, running around on horseback, making art, and building things.
