Dr. Hasan’s expertise lies in the treatment of biosolids, resource recovery to promote a circular economy, the removal of emerging contaminants, and innovation in water and wastewater treatment processes. His professional journey is complemented by his commitment to educational outreach, where he mentors students and guides them toward success in the water industry.

In addition to his role with the City of Baltimore, Dr. Hasan is an active member of scientific committees for several international conferences and technical exhibitions. He has published numerous articles on wastewater treatment, water reuse, and energy optimization in water resource recovery facilities. Dr. Hasan is also a co-author of several books and manuals of practice, including PFAS in the Water and Wastewater Sectors: Fundamentals, Management and Treatment; Manual of Practice – Energy Efficiency in WRRF; Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals III – Advanced Treatment, and Standard Design Methods for WRRFs.
