Aliaa has experience with a broad range of research skills, racial justice design, planning, and implementation, community empowerment practices, and holistic health equity approaches.

Aliaa has published research on intersectionality and misogynoir, and has supported many research projects ranging from evaluating first generation students’ post-graduate self-efficacy in applying to graduate school, identifying barriers and opportunities to (advocate for) active transportation amongst Black and Brown communities, and compiling national public health equity metrics with a focus on racial justice and intergenerational well-being.

Aliaa also has experience facilitating racial, environmental, and mobility justice conversations, providing built environment technical assistance, strategic planning with the CDC, state health departments, CBOs, and transit agencies, leading community-wide mobility audits in rural communities, organizing youth-led, community-based climate equity projects, and growing healthy food in communities experiencing food apartheid.

Aliaa supports the Just Team at ILFI in reviewing organizational policies and practices to ensure equitable processes and outcomes within the building industry.
