Daraja Brown
Civil Engineering Student, Georgia Institute of Technology
Daraja Brown is an undergraduate student at Georgia Tech pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Spanish. She is excited to join ILFI’s Equity in the Built Environment Steering Committee, as she is passionate about leveraging her affinity for engineering to support efforts to advance equity in historically marginalized communities.
During her time in college, Daraja led a research team focusing on enhancing equity within building rating systems for two years while developing her passion for the built environment through participating in and actively engaging in leadership roles in engineering organizations at school. She is an active member of her community through her involvement with organizations such as Georgia Tech Student Ambassadors and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a member of the Centering Equity in the Sustainable Building Sector Initiative.
In her personal time, Daraja enjoys playing volleyball, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.
