Jessie Templeton
Embodied Carbon Lead, Brightworks Sustainability
Jessie Templeton is the Embodied Carbon Lead at Brightworks Sustainability, overseeing WBLCAs, low-carbon material research, and embodied carbon reduction processes at both project and portfolio scales in the US and globally. She works with project teams to evaluate whole life carbon, problem solving for near term low embodied carbon solutions and implementing long-term design thinking which strategizes disassembly and reuse.
Prior to Brightworks, Jessie practiced architecture for 14 years with a focus in affordable housing, multifamily housing, campus communities, transit-oriented developments, and urban neighborhoods. During her time at GGLO Architects in Seattle, she was a core member of GGLO’s Climate Positive team where she led the firm’s embodied-carbon related work and co-led a design equity initiative, creating a framework for approaching projects in an equity-centered way.
Jessie serves as a steering committee member for the Seattle Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF) hub and is involved in policy efforts to implement Embodied Carbon code provisions in Seattle and Washington State.
In her personal time, you can find Jessie somewhere in the mountains biking or skiing with her family.
