Jill Maltby-Abbott is an architect and project manager working on standards for products and processes at UL Standards & Engagement. Working on a team of engineers and data scientists, Jill ensures safety science is tied to sustainability.

Before ULSE, Jill supported GSA’s Center for Emerging Building Technologies and consulted on portfolio-scale materials optimization for Fortune 500 clients. She also spent 8 years with a global architecture practice leading sustainability in design and construction.

Her work with materials led to recognition as Metropolis Magazine’s 2022 Rising Star in addition to speaking engagements including the AIA national conference, regional AIA conferences, NeoCon, ASHRAE’s Building Performance Analysis Conference, and specialty panels. With a B Arch from Iowa State University, Jill’s career started in Seattle before relocating to Chicago. Her favorite way to spend time is with her husband and puppy in addition fangirling over Chicago’s arts, culinary, and sustainability scenes.
