Henry Ward Beecher once said “A book is a garden, an orchard, a storehouse, a party, a company by the way, a counselor, a multitude of counsellors.” I am ILFI’s humble keeper, grower, builder, sharer and steward of the well-spring of educational and inspirational publications supporting the organization’s vision for a Living Future.

Michael D. Berrisford is the Editor-in-Chief of Ecotone Publishing, the publications division of the International Living Future Institute. Michael oversees the development of emerging book projects including the research, design, writing and production of the Institute’s ever-growing portfolio of innovative books on sustainable design. The Ecotone team is committed to furthering design education about regenerative architecture and revolutionary engineering through its publications in the Living Building Challenge Series (LBCS) as well as documenting pivotal people and projects who are shaping the future of the built environment. Michael authored Generation Green, an LBCS publication exploring the design and construction of the world’s greenest childcare facility.

Michael is a dedicated naturalist and environmental advocate. He is passionate about all aspects of healthy living and community, coaching triathlon and running to youth and the young at heart. He resides in the ecologically unique Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada with his wife Melissa, daughter Haley and twin boys Connor and Holden.
