Rachel Engstrand, PhD is Head of Science for CNaught, with over 15 years experience in conservation and sustainability. She serves as a Technical Advisor to ILFI to provide expert guidance on carbon credits and help shape standards for climate action.

She worked as a scientific researcher for several years, focusing on conserving endangered species at the American Museum of Natural History and New York Botanical Gardens before shifting her focus to the environmental impacts of climate change and human activity. She pursued a PhD in Environmental Resources at Stanford University and was recognized as a National Geographic Explorer for her doctoral research. After her PhD, she transitioned into working in the voluntary carbon market to effect change at a larger scale.

In her personal time, Rachel practices glassblowing and nature photography. She is also working with her partner to start a sustainable winery.
