Tom Bruton, PhD, is a member of ILFI’s Material Health Technical Advisory Group. Tom is a Senior Hazardous Substances Engineer in the Safer Consumer Products program at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control. He received his PhD in civil and environmental engineering at UC Berkeley, where his research focused on cleanup methods for PFAS-contaminated sites. Prior to joining DTSC, Tom was a Senior Scientist with the Green Science Policy Institute, where he led collaborative efforts aimed at reducing the use of harmful chemicals in consumer products.
