From Policy to Practice: Strengthening Water Conservation Locally
Join Living Future Membership for an insightful panel discussion where we’ll explore the innovative water conservation efforts at John Ball Zoo’s Living Building project. In 2023, the Zoo unveiled an innovative pygmy hippo habitat, designed with sustainability in mind and working to achieve Living Building Challenge Core and Materials Petal certification. Despite initial setbacks due to local plumbing codes, the Zoo’s team has worked hand-in-hand with the City of Grand Rapids to pioneer a phased plan for using on-site water sources safely and effectively.
During this webinar, you’ll hear from key project team members and the Zoo’s facilities team about their holistic approach to water conservation and the collaborative efforts with city officials to push policy boundaries. Attendees will also learn about the challenges and triumphs of integrating sustainable practices within existing regulatory frameworks. Speakers- Kelsey Groesbeck, PE, Director of Building Science at TowerPinkster
- Amanda Brookes, Catalyst Partners
- David Paquet, Wolverine Building Group
- Allmon Forrester, Director of Facilities at John Ball Zoo
