Liya Temin

Liya Temin is a Manager, Buildings on ILFI’s Impact team. She manages the certification process for ILFI’s building-scale programs, including The Living Building Challenge, Zero Carbon, and Zero Energy. She supports the development of certification platforms and processes, addressing questions from project teams and third-party auditors throughout the review process.

Liya attended Harvey Mudd College, where she graduated with a B.S. in engineering. While completing her degree, she worked with a local architectural firm to determine renewable energy possibilities in a Haitian community and calculated the carbon footprint of a completed building project. She continued her education at University of California, San Diego where she received her Master’s in Structural Engineering with focuses on analysis and earthquake resilience. As a licensed engineer in both California and Colorado, Liya has worked on projects ranging from small seismic retrofits to larger mixed use buildings and multifamily housing.

When she’s not working, Liya can be found tinkering in her garden or in the mountains of Colorado hiking, backpacking, and skiing.
